- No — the WordPress plugin covers BuddyPress, because BuddyPress is WordPress underneath. There is nothing extra to install.
- Do members keep their BuddyPress identity?
- Yes. Names, avatars and profile links come from BuddyPress, so clicking somebody in the user list goes to their BuddyPress profile rather than to a stranger with the same nickname.
- How is this different from BuddyPress private messages?
- BuddyPress messages are email with extra steps: you write, they get a notification, they come back later. These arrive while the person is reading, which is a different thing and the reason communities keep a chat as well.
- Will it replace groups?
- No, and it should not. Groups are where a community keeps things; a room is where it is. Sites running both use rooms per group as the live half of each one.
