Before you install it
Three ways it can sit on a page.
Same chat underneath. The layout is a setting, changed from the dashboard whenever you like, so this is not a decision you are stuck with.
Dock
Most sites, and the one to start with.
A tab in the bottom corner that opens into the chat. It stays out of the way until somebody wants it, which is what you want on a site where the chat is a feature rather than the point.
Side chat
Sites where the conversation is the point.
A panel down one edge, open by default, with the room already visible. A visitor sees people talking before they decide whether to join, which is most of what makes them join.
User list
Communities, where who is here matters as much as what was said.
Leads with the list of people currently on the site, grouped by role. Click a name to start a private conversation, or open the room from the same panel.
You are looking at one right now, in the corner of this page. It is the same widget your visitors would get, running on the same servers.
The real trial
It is one script tag, so trying it properly is not much harder than this.
